About Me

Kathie Milligan Landscape Painter

My painting is a response to the natural world as I see it. I spend most of my time outside; painting, gardening or participating in recreational activities so it stands to reason that I’m an en plein air painter. Outdoors I connect with the landscape in a spiritual sense, tapping into a feeling that goes deeper than the physical elements around me. I paint the landscape where I live as well as the people interacting within it, searching for an emotion I feel the scene creates with the wish that the viewer will feel it too.

I received my MFA in painting in spring, 2007 from the New York Studio School in Manhattan and my undergraduate degree in studio art is from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. I’ve lived in both the United States and London, England and have shown work internationally. I am a multi-media artist concentrating on drawing and painting. Presently my time is divided between teaching and landscape painting.
