As a painter, the wetland landscape around my home has captivated me for many years.  The vernal pools and decaying woods offer the challenge of searching for visual excitement in an ambiance that appears unattractive at first glance.  Because this wetland landscape seemingly lacks natural beauty, I am forced to refine my approach, which often results in my most interesting work.  My efforts are not geared toward depicting exact reproductions of the environment, but rather to capture the feeling generated in reaction to being in a certain place and recording the rhythms and patterns of nature found there.

I received my MFA in painting in spring 2007 from the New York Studio School in Manhattan.  I earned my undergraduate degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.  I've lived and studied both in the United States and London and shown artwork internationally.  I am a multi-media artist concentrating on drawing and painting and I presently divide my time between teaching and landscape painting.
